“♬ Let’s fly down, or drive down, to New Orleans
that city, sure is pretty, full of historic scenes! ♬”

Getting Around

There are many easy ways to get around New Orleans. Many locations are easily walkable or accessible by bike. Uber and Lyft have made getting a ride easier and faster than ever, but expect increased prices during festival times and peak hours.

Coming from the airport?
Cab fare to anywhere in New Orleans is $36.00 for one or two persons and $15.00 (per passenger) for three or more passengers. Pick-up is on the lower level, outside the baggage claim area. There is usually a long queue of taxis waiting to whisk you into the city.

The airport also provides a shuttle service for $24.00 per person one-way (or $44.00 per person, round-trip to most hotels). You should buy your ticket at the shuttle curb in the baggage claim area. Call 1-866-596-2699 or (504) 522-3500 for more details or to make a reservation. The shuttle usually carries 10 people, so you might have to drive around a bit before getting to your destination.

The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) now provides the Airport Express (202) Bus with service to and from the Airport into New Orleans. Pick up locations for the Airport Express (202) Bus in New Orleans can be found at Elk Place at Cleveland and the Union Passenger Terminal Bus Bay 2 with transport to the Departures Level at the Airport Terminal and select trips to the North Terminal Construction site. The fare for this route is $1.50.

The Airport-Downtown Express (E2) Bus operated by JET is $2.00. The fare boxes will accept $1, $5, $10, $20 dollar bills and all U.S. coins. The Airport-Downtown Express (E2) provides service from the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, down Airline Drive into New Orleans, which takes approximately fifty (50) minutes. For more information on public transit in the area, visit the Jefferson Transit website,www.jeffersontransit.org.
